Story: Elysium, also called Elysian Fields or Elysian Plain, in Greek mythology, originally the paradise to which heroes on whom the gods conferred immortality were sent. ... By the time of Hesiod, however, Elysium was a place for the blessed dead, and, from Pindar on, entrance was gained by a righteous life.
“In the secluded grassy meads of Elysium, among gatherings of heroes and spirits of the blest.”
Kerri Halpern of Madstone Design has always been intrigued by Greek and Roman mythology. She drew much of her inspiration for the Madstone Mythology collection through her years of travel and studying ancient cultures. Recent trips to the Louvre and Metropolitan Museum of Art to view art and sculpture from this period also brought new insight. Each jewelry piece in this collection is designed to embody the essence of the God or Goddess she refers to incorporating symbolism used in art and literature.
