Diamond Small Shield Stud Earrings by Meredith Young

Specs: Based on a 15th century BC Greek figure eight shields, the iconic small flat shield earrings offer both a strikingly, classic but edgy look perfect for day or night. Each diamond seat is cut and set by hand in solid wire allowing minimal gold to be used and ensuring the lightness of these classic but edgy earrings.  Set in 18k gold, the earrings measure .79" long and have 0.34 carats of white diamonds.

Story: Meredith was wild about working with a torch and metal from the age of 16. Her grandparents’ home in Green Valley, Arizona spurred an early interest in minerals and the lapidary arts. Making jewelry and small metal sculptures offered moments of intimacy and an emotionally charged physicality with an artistic medium. An artist’s ability to facilitate an immediate connection with the viewer’s body, to confound the spatial expectations of the viewer, and to transgress boundaries were of particular interest to Meredith. 

For nearly a decade, she worked in a corporate business development career and designed and created jewelry at night in her studio until 2016 when she took her passion full time, launching her first collections of fine jewelry and one-of-a-kind works of art.
