MadStone Three Graces Convertible Ring

Specs: 18k white gold ring with 8.14 carats of Rubellite Tourmaline and 2.7 carats Diamond.

Story: Kerri Halpern, MadStone Design, made this ring with three distinctly attractive personality characteristics in her mind:

“Charm, Beauty, and Creativity”

This ring pays homage to Antonio Canova’s statue The Three Graces;  a Neoclassical sculpture, in marble, of the mythological three charites, daughters of Zeus – identified on some engravings of the statue as, from left to right, Euphrosyne, Aglaea and Thalia – who were said to represent youth/beauty (Thalia), mirth (Euphrosyne), and elegance (Aglaea). The Graces presided over banquets and gatherings, to delight the guests of the gods. As such they have served as subjects for historical artists including Sandro Botticelli and Bertel Thorvaldsen.

A version of the sculpture is in the Hermitage Museum, another is owned jointly and exhibited in turn by the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Galleries of Scotland.

Kerri Halpern of Madstone Design has always been intrigued by Greek and Roman mythology. She drew much of her inspiration for the Madstone Mythology collection through her years of travel and studying ancient cultures. Recent trips to the Louvre and Metropolitan Museum of Art to view art and sculpture from this period also brought new insight. Each jewelry piece in this collection is designed to embody the essence of the God or Goddess she refers to incorporating symbolism used in art and literature.
