Story:   Aphrodite, ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. The Greek word aphros means “foam,” and Hesiod relates in his Theogony that Aphrodite was born from the white foam produced by the severed genitals of Uranus (Heaven), after his son Cronus threw them into the sea ...

“Tell me of the deeds of golden Aphrodite, who stirs up sweet passion in the Gods and subdues the tribes of mortal men.”

Kerri Halpern of MadStone Design has always been intrigued by Greek and Roman mythology. She drew much of her inspiration for the MadStone Mythology collection through her years of travel and studying ancient cultures. Recent trips to the Louvre and Metropolitan Museum of Art to view art and sculpture from this period also brought new insight. Each jewelry piece in this collection is designed to embody the essence of the God or Goddess she refers to incorporating symbolism used in art and literature.
